I graduated from Edison State College (now Florida Southwestern State College) with my B.S. in Middle Grades Language Arts. Prior to becoming a teacher I served in a variety of professional roles: I was the office manager for a real estate firm, a recruiter in the commercial banking industry, and I worked at a call center in Texas. I've traveled quite a bit: Turkey is my favorite destination, but I've also been to Austria, Guatemala, Haiti, Panama, Mexico, Honduras and the Bahamas. While in Panama, I lived among a tribe of indians near the Darien Jungle called the Kuna, a really neat cultural experience. I'm a published poet, my debut book of poetry was published in February 2015 by Apprentice House (Loyola University) and I also occasionally freelance for various magazines across the country.  I'm married to my beautiful wife, Sharayah and we have five children ages newborn to ten.
