OMS - some of our students have been participating in an unsafe and costly TikTok challenge. The challenge has students sticking items, such as graphite from pencils, aluminum foil, or paper clips into the USB ports of their Chromebooks. As a result, the Chromebooks can overheat, smoke, and even catch on fire.

Students participating in this challenge at school will receive a referral for a Safety Violation.  Students could be suspended up to 10 days.  In addition, while this challenge damages the Chromebook, students/parents/guardians will be charged for the full replacement cost of a Chromebook - $378 (per our Superintendent). If a fire were started in school, a student could be facing a referral for arson.

Please speak to your kids about using the Oasis Chromebooks properly.  This challenge being tried at home could start a fire in your own home.

Thank you for your assistance!
